A Busy Week and a Quick Catch-Up

We’re excited to share our week five update. Apologies for it being a little late—this past week was a whirlwind. Joel was busy teaching a class, and the puppies kept us more than occupied. From Monday through Wednesday, there wasn’t a free moment, so we’re catching up today.

All Puppies Have Found Their Forever Homes

We have some wonderful news to share. Every single puppy has now been matched with their forever family. Thank you to everyone who traveled out west to meet the puppies and make their selections. The entire process went smoothly, and it truly feels like each puppy ended up with the right family based on what everyone was looking for.

Growth and Current Weights

These puppies are growing incredibly fast. Below are their most recent weights from Sunday. Brown is shaping up to be a big, lovable boy.

We record weights in metric units since Pyrantel deworming dosage is based on grams per kilogram. To convert kilograms to pounds, multiply the weight by 2.2.

Brown – 4.3 kg

Orange – 3.7 kg

Purple – 3.6 kg

Red – 3.6 kg

Green – 3.55 kg

Pink – 3.5 kg

Yellow – 3.45 kg

Aqua – 3.45 kg

Lime – 3.4 kg

Training Progress and Behavior

All of the puppies are thriving, and from a behavior standpoint, they are soaking up training like sponges. Potty training is nearly 100 percent with their litter box. In just about two weeks, we’ve almost eliminated accidents, with only the occasional small mishap. This is one of the fastest litters we’ve had when it comes to learning good potty habits.

They’re also beginning to alert us to anything out of the ordinary. When the UPS driver rings the doorbell or someone unfamiliar enters the house, they all chime in with their sweet little barks. It’s early “stranger danger” awareness, and while they’d probably lick a stranger to death at this point, it’s great to see them noticing things that don’t belong.

Outdoor Time and New Experiences

All of the puppies are still a bit timid about being outside. To be fair, it’s cold and there’s quite a bit of construction noise in our neighborhood right now. They tend to stick close together and stay near the door, but we make a point to get them outside to play as often as we can.

Recall Training and Playtime

We’ve also started teaching them to come when called using the command “Come (name).” If you’ve already shared your puppy’s name with us, we’re using it as we call them from one side of the kitchen to the other. Watching those little paws race across the room never gets old.

They are also having a great time playing in the tunnel we’ve set up for them, which you can see in the photo above.

Looking Ahead

Everyone is happy, healthy, and doing great. It’s hard to believe there are only about two and a half weeks left until your new puppy joins your family.

More pupdates coming soon as we head into the final weeks together.
