Puppy Selection Is Underway

Week four is finally here, and puppy selection has officially begun. A big thank you to everyone who visited us last weekend. It was great meeting you and getting to know your families. These puppies are already clearly on their way to becoming very loved, four-legged family members in their new homes.

Families selecting male puppies have made their choices, and the first female pick went to the Collins family, who selected Yellow. The second female pick will be made later this month. We know everyone is eager to choose, and we appreciate your patience. We’ll continue to share updates as selections are finalized, so be sure to check the Puppy Pick Page, where we keep the latest information current.

Growth, Feeding, and Daily Routine

The puppies are growing incredibly fast, and all of them now weigh over five pounds. They are full of energy and officially have a full set of puppy teeth. They are sleeping less, and Ginger is no longer nursing them. Instead, they are happily eating four meals a day from their puppy bowls.

We took photos this week shortly after mealtime, so a few puppies still had some puppy mush on their faces. In hindsight, we probably should have taken pictures first. Feeding nine puppies, taking photos, and keeping everyone clean is definitely an agility test, especially with four meals a day. Just imagine nine impatient toddlers at every mealtime.

Playtime, Toys, and New Experiences

This week, the puppies were introduced to toys, obstacles, and time outdoors. Their first outdoor experience made them a little nervous, mostly because Ginger was farther away than they were used to. In the photo at the top of the page, you can see them enjoying playtime with their toys. The colored circles on the ground are small steps set at different heights to help them learn how to climb stairs or navigate uneven terrain, which is great preparation for future adventures like hiking.

Early Potty Training Progress

Potty training is also coming along nicely. The puppies have a designated potty area, and many of them are already using it consistently. That means less cleanup for us and a great head start for you at home. We’re very pleased with how well they’re doing at just over four weeks old.

Health Update and What’s Next

The puppies received their second dose of Pyrantel this weekend. This is a routine preventative treatment for roundworms and other common puppy parasites, and there have been no signs or symptoms of any issues.

We’ll be back with the next update and new photos in week five.
