Here we are in Week 2 with Ginger’s final litter, and life in the whelping box is as lively and lovable as ever. As of Sunday, June 29th, these pups are thriving and keeping their mom very busy.

Feeding Time Frenzy

Ginger continues to shine as a mom. With no puppy teeth yet, she is still nursing them happily, though that is about to change. Between weeks 2 and 3, their tiny teeth will begin coming in, and Ginger will likely start nudging them away a bit more often. For now, she is fully committed to milk bar duty, and the pups are taking full advantage.

One of our favorite things to watch during feeding time is the tails. As each pup latches on, their little tails stretch straight out and start wiggling with pure excitement. It is a classic Labrador trait we have seen in every litter, and it never gets old. They will likely still do it next week when we introduce their first mush meals.

Weigh In Results

They are growing quickly, and you can see and feel the difference since last week. Here is how the latest weigh in turned out.

Lime Green: 1,600 grams and currently the biggest of the bunch.

Pink: 1,550 grams and close behind in second place.

Blue: A solid middleweight holding steady.

Brown: Following Blue closely and gaining well.

Purple: No longer the smallest and making steady progress.

Fuchsia also known as Hot Pink: Now the lightest of the litter at about 1,300 grams.

We love seeing how their sizes shift from week to week. Even the smallest pups are gaining steadily and thriving at their own pace.

A Family Trait Appears

During our usual snuggle and inspection time, we noticed something special. A few pups have started showing white toes, just like Ginger. For those who may not know, Ginger’s AKC name is Ginger Whiteoth, inspired by the single white toe she has always had.

It looks like Blue and possibly Green may be following in their mom’s footsteps with a little white mark of their own. Genetics never fail to surprise us.

Wrapping Up Week 2

These pups are officially in their adorable blob stage, spending their days snoozing, nursing, wiggling, and slowly learning to walk on unsteady little legs. The coming week will bring even more changes as teeth begin to appear, personalities start to emerge, and they transition toward solid food.

We will be back soon with more updates, new weights, and likely a messy first mush meal. Until then, thank you for following along with Ginger and her six little wonders.
