Week 4 Pupdate: Joel holds down the fort while Kerri heads north!

Joel steps in for this week’s update while Kerri travels to Minnesota to welcome Lainey, our newest future breeding female. Bringing dogs in from different regions is part of our commitment to genetic diversity and raising healthy, well balanced Red Fox Labradors.

Back at home, it has been a busy week managing puppies and daily life, but we are excited to introduce Lainey soon and continue building the future of our program.

Hi everyone. If we have not met yet, I am Joel, Kerri’s husband and the other half of My Red Fox Labs. You usually hear from Kerri, our resident puppy expert, but I am stepping in this week to share the latest update from home base.

Where Is Kerri?

This week, Kerri traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pick up our next breeding female, Lainey. You might be wondering why we would travel that far for a pup. The answer is simple and very important to us: genetic diversity.

We are committed to raising the healthiest and most well rounded Red Fox Labradors possible. That means intentionally bringing in dogs from different parts of the country with varied genetic backgrounds.

  • Ginger comes from the Pacific Northwest.
  • Charlie joined us from Ohio.
  • And now Lainey is coming to us from Minnesota.

By expanding geographically, we avoid concentrating similar bloodlines and reduce potential health risks. It also helps maintain strong structure, sound temperaments, and overall balance in our program.

Meanwhile at Home

While Kerri has been away, I have been holding down the fort with the puppies. Between caring for our six growing pups, managing the adult dogs, and even tending to our newest chicken arrivals, it has been a busy stretch.

I also had a big assist from our daughter, who helped with feedings and cleanup while I worked on filming and editing this week’s update. I truly could not have done it without her.

And yes, the video was posted a day late this time. Thank you for your patience. Managing puppies is very much a full time job.

What Is Next

Kerri is officially on her way home with Lainey, and we are excited to introduce her to you in next week’s video. She is a beautiful addition to our family and will play an important role in our program as we look toward 2027 and beyond.

Every puppy we raise is part of a much bigger story, and we are grateful to have you along for the journey. Whether you are hoping for a future puppy or simply enjoy following along each week, thank you for being part of the My Red Fox Labs community.
