Week seven and they are almost ready to go home

Week seven marks the final pupdate for our Red Fox Labrador puppies as they prepare to head home. This update covers outdoor adventures, potty training success, socialization, a vet visit, final weights, and their graduation photos are now online.

The Final Pupdate and a Big Milestone

Week seven is here, and it’s almost time for these puppies to head off to their new homes. This will be our final pupdate for the Fall 2024 litter, and it’s hard to believe how quickly the past several weeks have flown by.

It’s amazing to see how much they’ve grown and changed in such a short time. Just last week, they were hesitant to explore outside and stayed close to Ginger. Now they’re racing around the yard, and sometimes it’s a challenge just getting everyone back inside.

Outdoor Adventures and Big Personalities

The puppies are having the time of their lives outdoors, and a few have even discovered a love for digging. In the cover photo above, Brown proudly claimed a hole he dug between two rocks in our yard. He sits there like the king of his domain and doesn’t let the other puppies play in it. While we do our best to discourage this behavior, he simply digs it right back out when we fill it in. On the bright side, all that excavating tires him out, and he sleeps very well afterward.

It’s been a wild ride with this group, and we’re so grateful to have shared their journey with you.

A Very Busy Final Week

This is the busiest week of the breeding process. The puppies are sleeping less, playing more, and constantly rotating between eating, playing, and potty training. With nine puppies, we’re always on the move.

Potty training has gone exceptionally well with this litter. There have been no overnight accidents outside the litter box this past week and only a few during the day. At night, the puppies have access to the litter box, and during the day we take them outside several times. They’ve learned that outdoors is for potty time and playtime, and many of them now alert us when they need to go out. Whining, dancing, or going in circles are usually clear signs they need a potty break.

Socialization and New Experiences

The puppies have also been busy socializing. Halloween brought quite a few visitors who couldn’t resist giving them attention, and the puppies soaked it all up.

They’ve also been exploring more of the house and recently discovered the cats, Luci and Lady Bug. The cats have since gone into full hiding mode, and we suspect we won’t see them again until the puppies head home next week.

Vet Visit, Health, and Final Weights

The puppies will visit our vet on Friday morning for their first set of vaccinations and a full health check. They’ll head home with a clean bill of health and complete records of their care, vaccinations, and milestones over the past eight weeks. Their next round of vaccinations will be due with your vet in about 30 days.

Here are the final weights from Monday, November 4:

Brown – 6.5 kg

Red – 5.5 kg

Green – 5.5 kg

Aqua – 5.45 kg

Purple – 5.4 kg

Lime – 5.25 kg

Orange – 5.2 kg

Yellow – 5.0 kg

Pink – 5.0 kg

Color Development and Graduation Day

All of the puppies are continuing to darken as their red coats come in. This is one of the most color-consistent litters we’ve had, and many of them also share Ginger’s signature white toe.
