Celebrating Week Six Milestones
Week six has arrived, and we’ve reached some exciting milestones worth celebrating. We hope you enjoy the Halloween puppy photos—everyone posed like little pros, and photographing them gets much easier as they grow. If you have little ones dressing up this week, we hope you have a fun and memorable Halloween.
Feeding Progress and Mealtime Changes
The puppies have officially transitioned from soft food to crunchy dry puppy food, which is a big step. Everyone now has a full set of puppy teeth and absolutely loves mealtime. We’ll continue feeding them four times a day until they go home with you. At eight weeks old, you’ll transition to three meals per day and begin monitoring their weight more closely to ensure they’re getting the right balance of food and calories.
Potty Training Progress
Potty training continues to move in the right direction. We reached a 100 percent success rate using the litter box for several days, and now we’ve begun transitioning potty breaks outdoors. At the moment, we’re seeing about a 50/50 success rate outside. Some puppies are still figuring out why they’re out there, but they’re adapting well, and we’ll continue reinforcing this new routine.
Outdoor Confidence and Exploration
The puppies are also making steady progress when it comes to outdoor time. Each day, they’re venturing a little farther from the house and gaining confidence. With colder and rainier weather arriving soon, we’re hoping they continue to stay brave as they adjust to new sights, sounds, and conditions.
Health Update and Weekly Weights
The week six dose of Pyrantel was given today, and the puppies will receive one final dose at week eight. Below are the results from Sunday’s weekly weigh-in:
Brown – 5.1 kg
Red – 4.55 kg
Purple – 4.4 kg
Green – 4.4 kg
Orange – 4.35 kg
Yellow – 4.2 kg
Pink – 4.15 kg
Lime – 4.1 kg
Aqua – 4.0 kg
Brown continues to lead the group and is still about 600 grams heavier than the next closest sibling. A few puppies have shifted positions in the lineup, but aside from Brown, weights are very close overall, with the females tending to be slightly lighter. Everyone looks great, and development remains right on schedule.
New Collars and Looking Ahead
We’ve also started transitioning the puppies to their “big dog” collars. They’ve all outgrown their velcro whelping collars, and while a few new collars are still on the way, everyone should be fully outfitted by the time we take Week Seven photos.
Week seven will be our final pupdate for this litter. The puppies will head home with their families the following weekend, and we can’t believe how quickly the time has flown.
